What to Expect

The Portrait session Process

This work is collaborative, intentional, and unrushed.
Below is a general outline of how we move from first contact to finished artwork.

1. Initial Phone Call

Connection first

We begin with a brief phone call—simply to get to know one another and make sure there’s a natural connection. This is a low-pressure conversation where you can ask questions, share what drew you to the work, and get a sense of how I approach these sessions.

If it feels aligned, we move forward.

2. In-Person Meeting

Vision & intention

Before any booking takes place, we meet in person—usually over coffee.

This is where we slow things down and talk through your ideas, the tone you’re drawn to, and what you want the work to feel like. We’re not creating costumes or characters; we’re clarifying intention.

This meeting helps ensure we’re building something thoughtful and true—together.

3. Booking & Agreement

Clarity and commitment

Once we decide to move forward:

  • A session agreement is reviewed and signed
  • A non-refundable deposit of $500 is collected to secure your date

This step confirms alignment on expectations, boundaries, and process before we begin creating.

4. Creative Planning

Collaboration & preparation

From there, we begin shaping the session.

Depending on the scope of the shoot, this typically includes 1–3 planning conversations. These calls allow us to:

  • refine the vision
  • discuss lighting and mood
  • talk through wardrobe and comfort
  • explore any creative elements or concepts

This is a living process. Ideas evolve, and space is left for discovery.

5. The Session

Unrushed, intentional, present

The session itself is calm and guided, never forced.

We move at a pace that feels right, adjusting lighting, direction, and energy as needed. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is expected beyond presence.

This is where the preparation allows us to create freely.

6. In-Person Reveal & Ordering

Seeing the work together

After the session, you’ll return for an in-person image reveal.

This is where you experience the photographs fully, without distraction, and choose the images and products that resonate most. Prints, albums, and finished artwork are ordered at this time.

This process is designed to create space for real collaboration and meaningful work. Minimal +Honest+ Intentional.
